The total cost of the project at Samdrupste was Rs .6.76 crores, the statue itself cost little more than Rs. 4.55 crore


The statue Government constituted a Committee consisting of Secretaries of Tourism, Buildings and Housings, Roads and Bridges, Ecclesiastical, Forest and Finance Deparments to plan and implement the Samdrupste project in a proper manner taking due care of the physical as well as religious aspects. Further, as suggested by the Chief Minister, an Advisory Board with Kyabje Dodrupchen Rimpoche and other prominent Monks was also constituted to advice the Committee on the religious aspects of implementing the prestigious project. Later, the Tourism Minister, accompanied by the Principal Secretary (Finance), Commissioner – Cum- Secretary(Tourism) and Special Secretary(Ecclesiastical), called on Venerable Dodrupchen Rimpoche and formally requested him to take up the responsibility of construction and installation of the Statue of Guru Rimpoche and assured him of all the financial support and related matters in reference to the project. The venerable Rimpoche kindly consented to take up the responsibility after some initial reservations.It is the collective effort of Rinpoche’s Lamas and engineers who camped themselves at the site throughout the implementation process to expedite the installation of Guru Rinpoche’s statue and ensure that the Structure, when completed, met all the technical as well as aesthetic requirements. Although the total cost of the project at Samdrupste works out to Rs .6.76 crores, the statue itself cost little more than Rs. 4.55 crores.
